Biggest Post Ever

What a week! I loved having my sister-in-law, Bethany come visit for a week. The kids loved her! And its so nice to have someone to talk to during the day. Daddy came Thursday night, also Bethany's birthday, and we celebrated with a chocolate chip cookie pie I found on the blog, bakerella (link on sidebar). So good! But very rich (I actually added too much chocolate. Didn't know it was possible!). On Friday, we drove to a beach on Lake Michigan and enjoyed a (very sandy) lunch before driving to Jonathan and DeAnn's place in Milwuakee. I added two new states to my list of states visited (Illinois, Wisconsin), and decided that while Chicago might be a nice city, the traffic there is beyond horrible. It was so fun to see Daddy and Jonathan and Christian playing together. They did yard work while the ladies had some "girl time"--I had my first ever pedicure, and I now understand why women like them so much. We also watched some supremely corny LDS romantic movies (Beauty and the Beast, Rescued) for a good laugh. The guys helped create price lists for Daddy's new business venture (i.e. Foot in Mouth package: pedicure and teeth whitening for men, $100). The kids had a grand time, too. Aaron and Isaac took turns handing each other toys, then taking them away. We got home at 2:00 am Sunday morning, and still had to get up for 9:00 church. Yes, we were late to church. On Monday, Christian did his hometeaching by inviting two families over for dinner... one of those families brought 8 of their 10 children... Busy, somewhat stressful, but fun--and we had really good food! The oldest Hardy girl is deaf, and she and Rachel got to be "it" while playing hide-and-seek. I really loved watching to two sign to each other. And now, I'm starting to get the house ready and our bags packed so we can head off to Boston to visit family (stopping off to visit Joy and Joey in Rochester, New York on the way). I may not be able to post very often over the next two weeks, but rest assured, I'll be having fun!

Taking a tumble

Its official! Aaron is crawling. We first discovered it when Christian was off on a business trip and I was struggling to get the kids to bed. I left Aaron is another room for a second and then heard--thump, thump, waaaa!!! (as he fell down the stairs...) I found him nearly at the bottom of the stairs. I panicked and called the pediatrician, but fortunately he was just fine--happier, even. So now I know.... and we keep our baby gate up.
He loves his new-found mobility, and I am continually reminded that I need to keep my floors clean and the kid's toys contained. Polly Pockets dolls are not meant for a baby's mid-afternoon snack. Here are a few shots of Aaron enjoying his lunch. Last time I took him to the grocery store, I got stopped by no less than three people, who mentioned that my baby was having a bad hair day!

Hottie Hot

I mentioned before that I have a really hard time getting good pictures of Hannah.
She asked me the other day to let her use my make-up so she could look "hottie hot" (way too much Disney channel). Just for fun, I let her play around with my stuff. She used lipstick on her forehead, blush as eyeshadow and vice versa, and sparkles everywhere. Afterwards, I tried to fix it. She wanted me to do her hair, as well (without too many screams, this time). So here are the "after" shots. (Honestly, where did she come from?)

Weekly trauma

Why is it that the Sunday morning ritual of styling little girls' hair is always so traumatic? Its like this tradition, passed on from Mother to daughter, a rite of passage of sorts. They beg for some pretty hairstyle, then scream the entire time I'm doing it. Or, I insist that they look decent, so I comb their hair and they scream the entire time I'm combing it. I've grown less sympathetic by now.. I've tried everything to make it hurt less, and usually during the week I avoid it as much as I can. The girls love having their hair braided, but hate me the entire time I'm doing it. What drama!

A New Favorite

I found a new chick flick that I love! I'm always a huge Jane Austen fan, having read all the books and enjoyed most of the film adaptations... but I've never seen a movie of Northanger Abbey. That didn't bother me too much, because it was my least favorite of the books. I rented a Masterpiece Theater production of Northanger Abbey and loved it! See it if you can--it has all the best parts of the book and less, well, less of the boring parts. You have to love a good romance! (By the way, after watching the movie, I did a quick re-read of the book... and it still isn't my favorite. Catherine Moreland is just too dull).

New Design!

I asked Christian to help me re-design the blog--didn't he do a great job! And it only took him a couple of minutes. We're still working out a few details, but I'm glad to get rid of the intense green background!
I have to confess, I'm a blog junkie. I love to read blogs, I check them daily or more, and I write new posts in my head (and then forget to actually post them). I think I posted too many times last week-- I should have spaced them out more because I love comments!
Have a great week everybody, and happy birthday to Debbie, Amy, Bethany, and, oh yeah, me.
